A NEW YEAR EVE IN BLACK AND WHITE

“VACUITÉ” by Yann Mazieres is a short film that follows a teenager in deep depression. On New Year’s Day, he decides to make resolutions, hoping that they will cure his depression. But he gradually discovers that it is not the quest for perfection that can save him, but acceptance of himself. With a minimalist aesthetic and strong emotional charge, the film explores inner emptiness and the difficulty of rebuilding.
